Perfection to anyone who knows how to appreciate beauty, and that including Xanthus, one of the richest man walking in the Capitol of Panem, perhaps one of the riches man on earth, who knows? He certainly has not bother to investigate on that. The man has been sitting there for hours since he woke from the nightmare. It has never leave him since the war. Every night, he goes back revisiting the scene where he woke up to find his wife and daughter crushed under the pile of stones. Everything was so vivid, so real it felt like his family is haunting him, unwilling to let him have peace. In a way it is his fault they were dead. Xanthus has never stop blaming himself for that. If only he never pause for too long picking up their belongings... If only he could just leave those documents... If only he make his family get out of the house before he goes upstairs... The alternatives kept torturing him to no end. His big hand easily found the sturdy glass sitting on the mahogany table beside him. Throwing back his head, Xanthus downed the bronze colored liquid in one shot, taking his time swallowing it. The bitterness exploded in his mouth and its burning effect calm his nerves. It was an automatic action, Xanthus refilled the glass and took another big gulp. Eyes staring ahead, thoughts were anywhere and everywhere. He knows he is to blame for his negligence, he had so much faith on the capitol defense to think rebellions could reach them in such short time. Ironically, the boom killed both his wife and daughter, leaving him alive to suffer for the lost. Well, he won't suffer alone, Xanthus will get the responsible parties to pay for it. The first annual Hunger Game is coming up, what a perfect timing. Xanthus was almost bloodthirsty thinking of witnessing the rebellions' kid fighting each other to death. They should shed blood for all that they did to the capitol. He picked up the glass for another drink. The alcohol helped him numb the pain, it makes him feels better, if only just slightly. The pair of soft arms encircled him from the back made the man tensed up for a moment, "Something troubling you there, Xanthus?" the soft voice reached him however was not unfamiliar, and he felt her warm lips by his ears. That was when Xanthus remembered he was not alone in the room. "Not anymore baby," a mindless reply and he turned his head to give her a peck on the lips, letting that lazy smile spread on his face. He really wasn't sure what's her name already, Lina? Lily? Layla? Who cares? Baby work fine for any girls. "You're sure? Cause you can tell me whatever troubling you, I can help if you need any," she offered, never know that Xanthus hated exactly the kind of girls who started to pry on his personal life after sleeping with him. Ah, a time to change, he sighed a quick one then releasing a smile to the brunette beauty, A waste really, she has been interesting, especially the time when she insisted she hated him. Girls, girls girls, how many of them aren't saying the exact opposite of what they are feeling? Whatever was going through his head, Xanthus has not reveal them out loud. Instead he kiss the girl on the cheek this time then pulled up a bad boy smile as he said, "I have time today, would you like to do some shopping?" It wasn't exactly hard to get her leaving his home, really. ------------------------------------- "Xan, this is so beautiful, oh!" her name is Lydia actually, and she picked up a beautiful golden dress which matches her pale complexion perfectly. Xanthus nodded with a smile, hands in pockets, his steps small and graceful as he walked up to her, "Do you like it?" her desire for that dress were reflecting clearly in her blue eyes actually. A smirk formed on his lips, he raised up a hand calling for service, a sales boy came over hurriedly, fear and respect on his face, "Pack this," he ordered him, then swung his arms over Lydia's shoulders, towing her out of the shop where they've done shopping. Under his lead, the couple wandered into a jewellery shop next. Girls and diamonds, Xanthus literally saw her eyes glittered under the multiple spotlights set in the shop when they entered. "Choose anything, it will be a gift," nodded his head to in a general direction, he said. This shop is one of many in the capitol that belongs to him, they have the finest handiwork, the best gems and pearls, not something anyone (even in capitol) can afford to buy. She should know what kind of treat she is in. And also what kind of deal he is offering. "No, Xan. No" in oppose to the eagerness most girl will show when their partner mention about buying them jeweleries, the protest leaves her lips immediately. Fears and disbelief colored her expression, "Don't do this please." A frown which lasted fraction of a second, Xanthus reached out his hand and wrapped the girl in his embrace before her tears trip over the brim of her eyes. "Shhh, no crying baby, no crying," he cooed as softly as he can, eyes glancing around the shop spotting the few customers, fingers soothingly combing her hair. He hate this part of break up. "Shhh, you know this is how things are supposed to be right?" "But I don't want to leave you, Xanthus. I love you." her muffled voice came from his chest. Love. Exactly what he doesn't need. Xanthus sighed out loud, feeling his patient running thin. The sound of it successfully made the brunette raised up her head to look at him. Carefully, softly, tearfully, she whispered, "Are you mad? I did something wrong?" she doesn't need the answer really. Moment of silence stretch for a few seconds, during which Lydia regained control of her emotion. Everyone wanted a piece of Xanthus Peterson. He is young, he is handsome, he is rich. But no one could replace the position of his wife even she was dead, Lydia envy that dead lady who gotten his heart. Even though it will be painful (she lost her biggest credit card back to the crowd of high end society), Lydia is a clever lady who knows that she might as well take what she deserves than lose every single bit of it when she really pissed Xanthus off. Rumors which floating around the capitol are that he doesn't care what he has to do to get someone out of his way, and jewellery as a breakup gift is a habit of his. So when he finally recomposed his face and asked her (tone tinted with a sweet edge that sounds strangely dangerous) to be nice and make the experience between them a pleasant one, Lydia nodded obediently and went off choosing herself a piece of jewellery she like most. Xanthus didn't even bother to send her off after a light peck on her cheek saying goodbye, his personal assistance usually help him with that bothersome job: calling the girls a car which will drop them off to their home. As soon as she disappeared from his sight, Xanthus gave a roll of his eyes going along with the word Girl, going through his head as if they covered everything. He was glad that his shop is almost empty, saved him the embarrassment for the scene she almost caused just now. Turning around he signal his personal assistance over with a wave of his hand, "Get me invitation for the hottest party tonight." This is it again, a time to get fun started.
