A. PERSONALITY:Quiet, humble but extremely clever, that's the impression Anya Sophia Moriarty gives to everyone she meets. She seldom talks, prefer to listen and be in her own little world, her thoughts are mostly bright because she has her own fantasy land inside her head, but that doesn't mean this girl is shallow; it takes one conversation with her to knows that she is simply genius by her way of thoughts, however the young girl just doesn't like to express herself that way.
Any time you see the girl, she might be lost in her thoughts, writing pages and pages of letters or reading some books. She is one person who doesn't think it is a waste of time staring off the space; she is the kind of girl who likes to write and through words on the plain paper only she can keep in touch with her mom and brothers; reading... well, it's a proper past time for this girl, especially when one is so poor they can't really afford many other types of entertainment in the District.
Anya is also a caring person, she is even caring to the level of being selfless, a person who willing to give as long as she can afford it. She has a kind nature, especially soft towards small animals (adult animals too in general), it could be her biggest strength and yet biggest weakness, being too trusting in this world can prove to be deathly most of the time.
Being she has a calm and quiet nature, Anya is also extremely patient and when she started to explain something to someone, she will make sure that person understand what she wanted to bring across perfectly. It's good that she has an commanding presence when she speak, and that everyone will be captured by her as she voice out her opinion; her point of views always been thoroughly considered upon, that her suggestions are never a bad one.
At home, Anya can be a dependent daddy's girl. Her dad loves her a lot, and will do anything to keep her baby girl happy, it shaped her the way she is. But that's not the reason Anya loves her father, but the way they can click and get along shaped out this relationship as it is.
Towards friends and those she trusted, Anya give them her 100% faith. She is loyal, a little to the level of stubborn maybe, but this young girl believes that someone she loves won't hurt her. It was pretty much lucky for her that everyone who meet her would mostly turned out to love or hate her directly, Anya's own prejudice sometimes also kept her away from those cunning person who just looking for a way to take advantage of her.
A little helplessly romance, sometimes Anya would wish for someone to care for her too. She is the kind of girl who might like simple relationship, nothing too flashy. She cries easily, but usually prefer to find a hiding place when she lets tears fall. Anya is an Aquarius, soft and tender on the inside no matter what tough shell she puts up front for everyone to see.
In conclusion, bright, quiet yet optimistic, polite, a little naive but could be prejudice, and often the girl who lost in her own little bright world. This is Anya Sophia Moriarty, the middle daughter of William and Kathleen Moriarty.
Ai. LIKES: Quietness, books, the sea, beautiful scenery, spending time with daddy, cheerful people, the sense of freedom, smells of jasmine, the special salty bread in District 4.
Aii. DISLIKES: Disturbed peace, mean people, violence, noise, some people......
Aiii. STRENGTHS: Quick-learner, bright, pretty, Physics, Maths, (later) swimming, negotiating.
Aiv. WEAKNESSES: Quiet, doesn't like to express herself, low-self-esteem, dependent, shy, selfless, can be too trusting, judgmental.
Av. SECRETS/FEARS: she is afraid of losing her love ones.
A. FAMILY:
Father: William Issac Moriarty
Mother: Kathleen Renee Moriarty (nee Kauhfman)
Older Brother: Jackson Phillip Moriarty
Younger Brother: Corrigan Lance Moriarty
B. HISTORY:Anya Sophia Moriarty was born under the heat of summer to a pair of young couple at District 13, the middle daughter of the three children, and later she was dubbed as the genius of her year by her teachers and peers.
Anya is always the quiet girl among her age. Ever since young,
this kid kept to herself. She tends not to speak but rather use body language to show everyone else what she wants when she really wanted them. It was a worrisome sign for her parents, they thought there must be something wrong with young Anya for not opening her mouth to express herself. Even though they were struggling to make ends meet each month, the young Moriarty couple still willing to spend and bring this young girl to every District doctors available. There were no specialist, District 13 were just another district in Panem, even though they is an important district due to them developing nuclear technology for the capitol.
Every medical examinations they did on Anya shown her as a healthy kid, there was nothing wrong with the young girl except the fact that she doesn't want to speak. It seems to be a mental defect, but the confusion is, Anya was an exceptionally bright child who could learn things at an astonishing speed. She knows to read and has been reading her brother's story books as soon as she reached 3, she can solve challenging IQ puzzles which some older kids can't even figure out; Anya is clever, and that confused her parents more why she doesn't talk.
Corrigan Moriarty was born 2 years after Anya, the family was overjoyed with the fact that yet another kid joined their loving family, and with that Anya has became an older sister, the middle child, not that she at young age of 2 could realize a lot of differences.
By 4 years old, the young child finally uttered her first sentence facing her parents' quarrel. Her mom was facing mild depression because her young girl has still not utter a single word; the boys seems normal enough. She was thinking that it must be her fault, maybe there is something with wrong with her genes, maybe they should've consider more about it before they give birth to the kids in this radiation filled place; it could be genetic mutation that made Anya lose the ability to speak. Her father however, disagree. He has complete faith on his little girl to be healthy and perfect, it is not an unknown case for a kids to speak later than normal age; he believed that his daughter is just taking her time on speech.
Young Anya was supposed to be in bed by then, but she was woken up by a bad dream and looking for comfort, only stumbled into the scene. In frustration the 4-year-old yelled out loud to her self-blaming mother that she is fine before she turned and ran to her brother's room, crying all the way there until young Jackson rocked her to sleep.
"I am fine," that was just a simple three words sentence. It stunned the fighting couple into statues, staring after their baby girl who just uttered her first word. And it is not mom, or dad, but a full sentence. "I am fine" that marked the difference of young Anya and the rest of the kids her age. Her parents can't
believe it that their girl has just refused to speak all along.
Things were not too different after that incident, the two adults would still needs to work hard to support their family, as the year passed by, they were required to work longer hours, but still barely enough to make their daily life an enjoyment.
Anya went to school by the age of 7, and it isn't that long before everyone in District 13 knows that she is a brilliant child. She inherited her mom's brain, her dad said. And she is amazing at Mathematics and Physics, which is a plus for it related to their District's major.
Being a brainiac however, could not be always a good thing. For one, all her classmates were jealous of her for the extra attention and praises she gotten from the teachers; at school her quietness personalities and cleverness is the one thing that got her bullied by her fellow classmates.
But of course, a girl like Anya was sure to be like by someone too. It was lucky for her actually, that the young girl made friends with Nicole, another girl in her class who was loud and big: she was taller than most girls in school. Nicole grown fond of Anya after they spent their first lunch period together and Anya shared her half her bread because Nicole's home was too poor to afford even small piece of bread for their kids to have a decent lunch. Hunger is never a news for those in 13, least of all for those who worked as graphite miners.
Nicole followed her dad to learn about graphite mining since young, back then the capitol has nothing against young child learning mining early, because the earlier they can master the skills, the sooner they could use their skills to serve the country. So Nicole grown up to be strong and big and loud, she was scary by appearance, with many scars on both her hands and an attitude that made other kids keep their distance.
Nicole and Anya became an inseparable pair in school and out, and her peers who were not quite happy with Anya kept their distance. Taunting were never anything new, but those this girl can handle; Anya learned from her dad to see things from the bright side anyway.
Her dad and her grown to be best buddy as the year goes by. Anya love to listen to her dad telling stories that happened in the nuclear plant, as well as from his past. At times the father and daughter would fly kite at the big field in town. Her dad was the one in family who understands her, he always gets what she wants before Anya even express herself.
It was that fateful day when the Moriarty couple invented a nuclear device which largely benefited the Capitol. Their family were granted with recognition from the president if not richness. At least they have enough to eat after that brilliant invention.
As the kids grown up, Kathleen's health problem started to surface, and soon she opted to stay at home with the three children. Young Anya learn a lot about nuclear from her mom when she was at home. The family was still manageable even now they have only William who work support them. Jackson started working too as soon as he reached adulthood, and life were at least peaceful for that few years.
Yet, that couldn't last. It was the start of tragedy in Anya's life when the uprising started, it affected the graphite miners the most, them who has been taking poverty the hard way compared to what the nuclear workers faced. Soon, the uprising went out of control, school were closed, work sites were closed, and everyone were force to stay home and try to survive with just what they have left with them for weeks.
Wanting nothing to do with the rebellions, the family of 5 mostly kept to themselves in their little home. They only heard bits and pieces of the proceeding war, knowing that rebellions has reached other districts and now they are going to attack the Capitol. While the whole deal seems to be succeeding and they might be granted freedom soon, there were this truce happened between President Snows and the leader of District 13 in secret. The Moriarty known of nothing of course, but they were approached by the capitol people and were offered a chance to relocate to another district, a generous offer due to the family's contribution to the capitol (and the president doesn't want to waste some great talents).
After a while of discussion, the small family decided to split and live in different Districts so to reduce the danger which was looming near. Anya follows her dad to District 4 while her brothers all went different direction. The hardest fact for this relocation however is not about her family breaking up, it was about her leaving everything that she knows, and everyone that she loves. For some reason this girl could tell that she will never be able to see Nicole ever again.
The family went to their new home before the Capitol sent off their own revenging booms which wiped District 13 from the surface of the earth. Anya has never see how the booming went off, but she cried for the facts that innocent lives were wasted for the meaningless war. Ever since she reached the beautiful District 4 with her father, the young girl rather spend hours working and silently obeying ever rules and regulations set by the Capitol, never again she question how the Capitol rules Panem.
C. RP SAMPLE:The sound of sea filled the air, there come the waves, and there go, and coming and going again, an ever ending process, it started since the dawn of time; the whoshing sound of waves was so pleasant to the ears, it helped to relax every tense muscles on the petite girl's body. Soft salty wind ruffling her hair and feathered her fair skin like the gentlest caressing. With eyes closed Anya Moriarty just let herself bath under the soothing sound and warm sunlight.
District 4 is a completely alien place to her. The buildings here are different than the tiny ones she lived in her past 17 and a half years. What they have now is more spacious, it is made of wood and floating on the water. It is a little scary, to tell the truth, but the experience is completely new to the girl; she likes it. Then there is the sense of freedom came from the vast open space one can see on the beach, the mountain which appeared as just soft shadows overlapping on the far end of the sea looks promising, like there is actually a world outside of Panem. Maybe there actually is, but the Capitol does't want us to know. I wonder can we swim away? It seems to be so far away, one could probably get exhausted and drowned before he get halfway across... even though her small dreams seems unrealistic, Anya likes to submerged herself into her own little fantasy. Sometimes dreams that won't ever come true is better than dreams which will anyway, and it is definitely more hopeful than having no dream at all.
Another deep inhale which filled her nose with fresh salty scent, the young girl stretched and shifted a position, the tiny smile lingered on her lips, thinking that life is as good as it could be to her already. Although she lost home and all that she ever knows, she is still living, she has her daddy by her side, taking care of her, and she found peace in this new place where she is going to stay put for the rest of her life.
District 4, seems like a good place to live.
As the sun sank towards the horizontal line, the last golden rays tinted the whole sky deep reddish orange, it kind of looks like pink too, like the color of cooked salmon. The 17-year-old allowed her eyes did the capturing like fast camera shutter, her memory memorizing the beautiful sundown, it is a blessing to see yet another sunset. She wondered how her mom and brothers are faring in the other districts, life could be as comfortable there, right?
Corrigan might need some time to get use to the new environment in 8, but with mom he is going to be alright. the thought of her family only allowed her smile to deepened on her small face, a pair of dimples appeared on her cheeks, Jackson might be having it tougher, District 12, mining is going to be hard work bro, harder than I am here swimming for seafood. Whatever went through her thought, Anya has faith that her big brother would survive the hardship, He probably going to finally be a man next time I see him. This young girl is proud of her family, even she doesn't normally show that out on surface.
Tick-tock the clock went, and with each second passed the sun continue to go down, it left one third of its surface visible for her now, the evening wind has subtle hint of chill in it, pushing the girl to curl up into herself. Her thoughts still whirling like a mini tornado taking place inside, they concerned about her little family that she will never see again, her best friend who has ceased to exist, and the whole of her home which was being wiped off the surface of Earth; her life is a living tragedy, and the Moriarty girl could only be grateful that she is still breathing.
Soft footsteps came from her back was almost inaudible, but inescapable to this girl's sensitive ears. Anya turned to see who is it coming over. A relaxed smile spread across her face as soon as she spotted the approaching figure. Someone is here to share the sunset with her.
